Bonny Opie as Art Mentor 

If you enjoy one-on-one attention and painting, a mentor might be beneficial for you.  I share honest, constructive, criticism and I make references to art history and master painters in my teaching practices. 

You may only need assistance in one area of your art or help with a basic good practice in painting. I draw on personal experiences and expertise to help advise and encourage my mentees. This could be in the form of sharing a story, resources, or lessons learned, from artistic challenges that I’ve overcome in my own work.

I knew I was an artist at an early age and therefore, I knew I would be playing the long game. I have been patient with my own learning and this has taught me how to be patient with others. I don’t give up easily on students and their artistic skills. I value maintaining and growing professional relationships.

Currently, my long distance practice involves a student sending me an image that they’re working on, with a a reference photo that shares their challenge.  I will re-work the image, adjusting art elements, or principles that need adjusting and then I will send back my suggestions to the student.
